Meet the Teacher Magnets (FREE Template)

Hey y'all!  It's about that time... You all know what I'm talking about.  Back to School.  Next week I can finally go back into my classroom but that is also the week we start moving into our new house!  Needless to say it will be a little hectic and I am trying to get the majority of my teaching to-do list done before the move.

One of my items was new business cards (since I have a new name now).  I was hesitant to buy 100+ business cards with my school contact information when I could be in a whole new room next year with a new phone number and have to waste all those cards, but I knew I wanted to give the parents something.  The answer you might ask?  Business card MAGNETS!  I bought 50 of them and at checkout they were half off!  Love it when a surprise deal/coupon comes my way.  I also love the idea that they are magnets and parents won't lose them as easily!  Here is my final product!  Now it looks much prettier without my contact information scratched out, lol, but you get the idea.

We all know how OCD I am (I mean, did you see my Intsagram post today with the sketch????) and I could not find a business card magnet design that I loved so I made my own and uploaded it.  I wanted to share the love with y'all in case you too wanted to make some magnets in the last, final, glorious days of summer ;o)  Consider it a Back to School gift from me to you!

Click on the image below to download the editable PowerPoint to create your own.  I know that it looks like a lot of extra space left on the bottom of the document but leave it as it is!  When you save it as a PNG file after you enter all your contact info and then upload it into Vistaprint, you will be able to crop it perfectly!

Here are the two fonts that I used on the card:

"Mrs. Sanjurjo's Class" = MTF Jumpin' Jack (with the Glow Text Effect)
"Contact Information" (the rest of the card) = LL Elementary

I hope you enjoy the freebie and the rest of your summer!

My Vistaprint creations came in today!!!

I am obsessed with Vistaprint!  I think this is my third order since the end of July, lol.  They keep emailing and I keep buying :o)  I love stalking scouting out other blogs to find new ideas also!

FOR THE CLASSROOM:

I made this super cute "while you were out" slip for students to take around with them to their other classes and write down the work an absent student is missing and when it is due.  It was just a note pad and I tweaked all the wording!  The note pad is a pretty good size and should last me the whole year.

Our weekly Name that State homework stays in a paper bag suitcase that we create in class, so I put these labels in their planner every week so parents know what the student's scores were.

Whenever we have parent conferences they always seem to ask, "What is their lexile?"  or "Are they reading where they should be?"  Since we take the SRI test three times this year I got a couple sheets of these labels for their planners.

This might be my all time favorite!  I found this idea on the blog Bunting, Books, and Bainbridge and fell in love.  It is a magnet for students to use at home on the fridge and put up their good work.  I came up with this poem and found a background design on Vistaprint that matched.  I know it's a little pink but the boys will live! LOL  As our first test grades and projects are getting passed back I will attached them with a paper clip to their great scores.  It doesn't necessarily need to be a 100, just what is good for them specifically.  I got 25 for free, then after I confirmed my order they offered a, "You can add extra items to your order in the next 10 minutes, no extra shipping!"  It's usually just more of the stuff you just bought but for a discount, so I got another 25 magnets for $5 and they just added it on to my order, no extra for shipping.

My very first piece of Sanjurjo stuff!  In case you're wondering, "WHAT is Sanjurjo stuff?" It's my new last name!  These are thank you cards and will def come in handy for the upcoming holidays.

FOR THE HOME:

These are just a few things I made up for our wedding :o)  The first is a door hanger for the hotel rooms that will go in the Welcome Bags.  Just imagine a hole punched out in the top ;o)

We have kind of a rustic theme, hence getting married at a ranch, and are getting married under a tree, so I made these return address labels to use on our thank you cards.  They look much prettier without the gray smudge though!

There you have it!  My newest creations, lol.  I have many more here on the blog under the Vistaprint link and I'm sure will be adding many more as the year continues :o)

Monday Made It #6: Vista Print Creations

This past week has been crazy!  My family came into town and we did the whole tourist thing: Disney, Sea World, the works!  It was so much fun to see them again but I definitely did not get a classroom "craft" done per se.  I did however get some Vistaprint creations done and in the mail today and I am very excited.  So this week's Monday Made It with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics is a digital classroom craft.

I created three new Vistaprint creations: 2012-2013 Sunshine State Feast Invitation (50 rack cards), Math Reference card (100 regular size postcard), and Classroom Rules banner (small vinyl banner).

Sunshine State Feast Invitation 2012-2013
Every student who reads all 15 Sunshine State Books will receive this special invitation to our Sunshine State Feast.  I plan on writing their name on the blank space under "That's a Wrap" in silver permanent marker.

Math Reference Sheet
I will be putting these in my math area by the TIMER Tubs so the students can always grab one to refer to when they are stuck.  I was nervous that the font would be too small and unreadable but it turned out perfect!  I snagged the front side from Ms. Sanchez's website (she's got great downloads!) and the back from the Utah Government website.

Classroom Rules
I've been seeing these types of subway signs all over the place, including my home for house rules, and I wanted to create one for our class.  I used Print Shop to create the sign and saved it as a PDF, then uploaded it onto Vistaprint and made a vinyl banner.  As you can tell there is some extra space on the actual banner but it is still larger than I imagined (it took up about half of my coffee table).  I'm going to frame it using yard sticks tomorrow.  I'm already thrilled with how it will look and it's not even done yet!  If you want a copy, head on over to my TPT store!

Do you want to know the best part of this DIY?  It was free!!!!!  That's right, Vistaprint was having this amazing sale and I only had to pay for shipping :o)  Can't beat that!

Sunshine State Feast 2012

Today was our Sunshine State Feast and it was a total success!  For those of you who do not live in the state of Florida and do not know what Sunshine State Books are, they are a selection of 15 books chosen by the state each year for 3rd through 5th grade and another set for 6th through 8th.   If you read at least three books, you get to vote on real voting machines for your favorite and there is usually a big party at the end of the year if you read all 15 books!  In addition to the party that the media specialist throws, we in fifth grade hold what is called the Sunshine State Feast.  It is a feast of different foods from all the books along with games, scavenger hunts, and prizes.  The whole concept of the Sunshine State Books is to promote reading and I must say it does a good job!  Here are our invitations for this year's feast (students got them when they completed all 15 books).  They are just Rack Cards that I created on Vista Print.

On the back of the invitations we have a scavenger hunt for the students to complete.  We name a few items from each book to find and they bring them in on the day of the feast.  The person with the most items wins!  One of my teammates set up the feast and created wonderful worksheets and games for them to play.  There was a word search with vocabulary words, a figurative language sheet using lines from all the books, and a food fact sheet where the students tried to guess which book each of the foods came from.  Here are a few snapshots of the day:

All in all we had a great turnout, about 40 students attended!  We already got the list for next year and I am excited to get a jump start on them this summer.  I do have to admit, a majority of them are about animals and that's not always my most favorite subject, lol.  Wish me luck!
